We are pleased to announce that JimiIoT has officially been selected as the Location Network Data Center for the BeiDou Navigation Satellite System. This selection marks a major milestone in the company’s commitment to driving innovation in satellite-based location services and positioning technologies. On June 21, 2017, JimiIoT became the first company to launch a sub-meter-level positioning terminal, offering high-precision positioning services at real-time meter, decimeter, centimeter, and even post-processing millimeter levels.
This cutting-edge terminal reflects JimiIoT’s strategic positioning as a leader in satellite foundation reinforcement systems. The solution supports a wide range of industrial and public sector applications where ultra-accurate location data is critical.
At the launch event, Sun Jiadong, known as the Father of China’s Guided Missile & Satellite Technology and the chief designer of the Chinese Lunar Exploration Program, expressed strong support for JimiIoT’s initiative. “We must focus on the collection of BeiDou big data and the development of high-precision location services,” he said. He Xiaoming, the conference president, also encouraged JimiIoT to further promote BeiDou applications, emphasizing the system’s potential to boost national economic growth and improve quality of life.
The BeiDou Navigation Satellite System (BDS) is China’s homegrown satellite navigation system and a significant strategic asset. Initially launched in 2000 as a limited regional test system, it evolved rapidly. By December 2012, 14 satellites had been deployed, providing comprehensive coverage across the Asia-Pacific region. Global service capability is expanding, with plans to launch 18 satellites by 2018 and complete a 35-satellite constellation by 2020 under the BeiDou III program.
These satellites are strategically distributed to ensure users worldwide can access signals from at least four satellites at any given time—crucial for accurate global positioning. With the full constellation, BDS aims to rival and complement GPS, offering improved accuracy, enhanced anti-interference capabilities, and greater service availability.
As a core technology provider, JimiIoT’s involvement in the Beidou ecosystem underscores its role in shaping the future of location-based services. Through innovation and collaboration, JimiIoT is enabling smarter cities, safer transportation, and more efficient industrial applications.
